Cameron Highlands, one of the districts in the state of Pahang is a major tourist destination in the country. The Highlands is well-known for its cool weather and plenty of key attractions such as butterfly farm, strawberry farm and vegetable gardens. It is located approximately 295 kilometres from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur.
If you are driving to the Highlands, the quickest route to get to your destination is via the North-South Expressway. Take a turn when you reach the town of Tapah. From Tapah town, drivers must drive another 50 kilometres along the winding road to get to Cameron Highlands.
All in all, it takes about three and a half hours from Kuala Lumpur to the Highlands. Well, if you are driving from Penang, it takes approximately four hours to get to the destination and further away, say if you start your journey from Johor Bahru, then it takes eight hours and finally, Singaporeans have to drive about eight and a half hours to finally reach this top tourist destination in Malaysia.
Bus to and from Cameron Highlands
For those who are planning to take a bus from other states, do not fret. Since Cameron Highlands is one of the top tourist destinations in the country, several vehicle companies offer services from other point of origin directly to the Highlands. Usually, the buses run several times a day to accommodate the increasing number of travelers and vacationers to Cameron Highlands.
There are several buses running from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. When you arrive at the capital city, transit and take another bus to Cameron Highlands. Among some of the buses that operate between Singapore and the capital city of Malaysia are Transnational, Plusliner, Supercoach, Sri Maju and Consortium.
It takes about six hours to get to Kuala Lumpur from Singapore. The buses will depart from Lavender Street, Singapore and arrive at Stadium Bukit Jalil (Puduraya Station is under renovation and being upgraded).
Once you are there in Kuala Lumpur, you can easily take a bus to Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands and the journey will only take about four hours. Kurnia Bistari Express is highly recommended and the fare starts at RM13.
There is another option to get to Cameron Highlands via Tapah by boarding Super Ria Transport that takes about two hours. The ticket fare is around RM10.
And if you are taking a bus to Tanah Rata from Tapah, it is even easier as you can purchase a ticket on the spot from Regal Transport since buses run several times a day starting from 8 am.
