Hong Kong Bites: La Cr?perie

From Food, fun & life, 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Spent a great Sunday with @missnormality, her French man and mine. Weekends have actually been exceptionally enjoyable because I realised while trying to mend and strengthen what was broken, we never actually spent time in Hong Kong the last 9 months I’ve been here to properly enjoy the city as a couple, not that we did much somewhere else. I now have friends in this city, a semblance of a Hong Kong life, know my bus routes and actually know the city much better to take guests around... Read more

Hong Kong Frugal Bites: Crispy Garlic Chicken @ Happy Valley Cooked Food Centre

Miss Normality has joined me in my adventures to found good hawker food around the city. This time, we went to her ‘hood. There were only 2 Chinese restaurants to pick from and they auntie wait staff were so overwhelmingly aggressive, it got stressful. We hastily sat down at the nearest table'you choose either the pink or red table clothed tables (well plastic), each belonging to the rivalry restaurant. Menus are in English with beautiful glossy photos… which for me serves as a... Read more

db Bistro Moderne Singapore

I always enjoyed going to Maison Boulud in Beijing, but I have to say that I enjoyed a really fabulous meal at db Singapore. We were greeted by the hyperactive chef Stephan and given some extra treats, like the white truffles tarte flamb? to start. Yum. I have a soft spot for tarte flamb?… topped with white truffles. I’m sold. Next up Gillardeau oysters'need I say more' Fried goat cheese ravioli for our friend T who doesn’t eat raw stuff. A lovely beef carpaccio for... Read more

Singapore Cooking/Eating

From Food, fun & life, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

My trips home are always inevitably short and stressful. I stopped planning in advance as I often never get to see everyone I would like to and in a span of days, it’s just impossible to put friends and family in equal place. Most of my friends understand, but then, there are others who don’t and continue to berate me for not calling. It’s never easy I guess. Going home is never a holiday, hopefully I learn to manage myself and my time better the next visit! Coffee @ Raffles... Read more

Dad's 70th Feast Part II @ Cocotte Singapore

From Food, fun & life, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Chef and I took my parents out to dinner for my dad’s 70th. Instead of always going to Chinese restaurants, I suggested a change in the trendy Wanderlust Hotel. Cocotte is a tastefully done urban chic resturant with a simple menu (although the way the structure of the wine list is a little dubious, with some wines categorised in the wrong region). The food however is simple, straightforward and good. Love the little creuset pots printer on the coasters and the choice of courrier font... Read more

Dad's 70th Feast @ Hua Yu Wee Singapore

From Food, fun & life, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

What else can we do but eat' Another excuse to feast! We did two birthday dinners, one at the old school Cantonese Hua Yu Wee where people above 60 throw birthday banquets. We were only 4, so we couldn’t go overboard. The mandatory longevity birthday buns filled with lotus bean paste. sea cucumber, mushrooms and abalone, one of my dad’s favourite dishes for its layered chewy squishy texture, that the Chinese call ?? which translates to mouth feel. “Buddha’s...
