I assumed that the faint knock on our slightly ajar door was from the housekeeping lady. It was a man's voice I heard however, and he only spoke Spanish to Shervin. I was able to make out a few words which included "se?or" and "comida". The mere mention of comida, the Spanish word for lunch and also food, made me jump off the bed.The invitation was timely. We were just about to head out for a meal. The owner did not speak a single English word. While Shervin could only say gracias. The owner of... Read more

musician's property

From expat in the philippines, 4 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Recently I was visiting a subdivision to see if there was a nice house to buy when I spotted a remarkable fence around an open lot. The metal structure on top of the wall was formed in musical script with many notes and musical symbols. The owner of the lot must love music a lot or be a musician I suppose. No house was build yet, just the fencing was made so far and already a few years old seen the state it was in. If the music can be played I do not know, maybe someone from my readers can try... We prefer bumming on a sandy shore than climbing a mountain, rappelling down a cliff, storming down the river on a raft or playing?rape-the-pond-fairies in?god knows what other body of fresh water there is. We crave for the sticky feel of the evaporating salt on our skins and the attenuating sound of waves crashing the shore. We lie down the hammock under the shades of coconut trees and forget about time for a change… then “PooF!” Someone softly but... Read more
