Wet season in Phuket - Great time to visit!

From We love Phuket, 5 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

As May turns to June, people in Europe, North America and more northerly parts of Asia are thinking of the summer, with sunny skies, warm balmy days and BBQ's in the garden. It's summertime and the livin' is easy... Here in Phuket, the weather doesn't have the same 4 seasons as "back home". We don't get cold weather, I have no use for warm clothes save for the occasional early morning ride on the bike, you can wear polo shirts and shorts every day. We don't have a spring with the bluebells... Read more

October in the rain (and sun)

From Phuket weather blog, 1 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

October, according to my Rainfall averages is the wettest month in Phuket, with September in 2nd place. Well, September 2010 has been relatively dry, only 225mm rain measured compared to an average of 372mm. My parents were visiting from the 14the onwards and we had very little poor weather, certainly the weather never made us change any plans. The last couple of posts on the blog show that we visited all kind of places. The skies may have been a bit grey some days, but that's fine by me -... Read more

August already

From Phuket weather blog, 1 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

2010 is speeding past. 7 months down. And not just in Phuket... this phenomenon is happening all over the world except maybe in North Korea. It's August, high summer, or the month before autumn shows it's face. Well, not here in Phuket. Seasons are not like that here. Right now it's low season, aka the Southwest Monsoon season, so we have some wet days, but also lots of hot days. The week from the 25th to 29th July was kind of wet, but even so, did not seem too bad. I got a sad message on the... Read more

West winds and a little bit of rain

From Phuket weather blog, 1 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

The "rainy" season, aka "low" season, or "MONSOON!" season, better known locally as the green season or summer season.. is here! Well, just about. Since the last weather blog update on the 20th, we've had some rain every day.. that's 6 in a row, but not much. Heaviest rainfall recorded at Casa Jamie was 6mm on the 21st, same on the 22nd. The 21st was due to a little thunderstorm, the 22nd was a real change in the weather - a cool, grey, drizzly morning with much cooler temperatures. I posted a... Read more

Burasari Resort, Patong Beach, Phuket

From The Pucket Hotel Blog, 4 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Burasari always seems to be popular, especially now in the low season with great deals to keep the resort full year round. I used to go sometimes for their great lunchtime buffets when I was working in Patong, and now they have Keith Floyd's restaurant too. Holy cow! It's not far from the beach, retains a slightly intimate feel, it's not too big. Now I'm not a big fan of Patong, but have to admit there are some nice hotels, and Burasari is one of them.Burasari Online Booking...• Burasari... Read more

Karon Place Hotel

From The Pucket Hotel Blog, 4 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

A hotel that I know very well! Right next door to Sunrise Divers in Karon Plaza, about 4 minutes walk from Karon Beach. It's a family run place, rooms are nice, service with a smile, a good restaurant a nice pool (rather small though!), it's quiet and price is decent. Other places around Karon Plaza are lower budget, Karon Place is the best mid price hotel in the area.• Karon Place - Online Booking at R24• Karon Place - Photos Read more

Take a trip to the Racha Islands

From Life in Phuket Blog, 1 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Just over 20 kilometers, about an hours boat journey south of Phuket you can find the Racha Islands which comprise of Ko Racha Yai (big) and Ko Racha Noi (small). These islands are better to dive in than the western beaches of Phuket as the sea there can be crystal clear and harbours a large diversity of aquatic life. In terms of visibility the best time to do so is in the summer which is in the off season when it can be upwards of 25 metres. The northern island is better suited to the more... Read more

Phi Phi threatened by Phuket diesel spill

From One Stop Krabi, 1 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

AROUND 40,000 litres of deadly diesel fuel is drifting towards the Phi Phi Islands in Krabi province, threatening marine life and the livelihoods of thousands. The large slick emanates from the wrecked Choke Thavorn 6 fuel tanker which sunk in rough seas off Phuket on Saturday. Royal Thai Navy helicopters were monitoring the situation and told reporters yesterday that the slick was moving in a westerly direction and back towards the scenic Andaman coastline. An earlier report predicted the... Read more

When venturing to Australia, you will have the opportunity to drink plenty of local wines ? and I’m not talking about our cheap friend, Goon. Australia is known for being one of the largest wine producing and exporting countries in the world with a fair amount of those drinks being some of the best in their class. The quality of flavor that is produced in Australia is said to come from the fact that the climate allows for perfect harvesting conditions, and this is one of the driving... Read more
